STAR WARS : Rivals - SENIOR GAME DESIGNER

summary

Star Wars : Rivals was a game that launched in several regions outside of the US. The game was a third person shooter that required players to navigate along waypoints and use Character specific skills and weapons to defeat enemies.

Contributions

My responsibilities involved Character Creation for over 30 characters, level design in Unity for single player levels, and scripting (Flow Canvas, an Unreal Blueprints style Unity plug-in) behaviors for boss enemies and level interactions.

Additionally, I was tasked with rehauling the combat system to ensure that battles maintained at parity regardless of Player level.

RESULTS

The game shipped to geo-beta with a diverse set of characters and abilities, keeping in line with the Star Wars canon.

We successfully rehauled the combat system so that all characters took around 6 shots in order to kill, modified by character abilities and faction bonuses, so that combat wasn’t unbalanced (e.g. one-shotting or bullet sponges).
